Dulcimer 'Dicey'
Farren
Captain
"Think about it. No one wants to get hurt."
|
Gender: Female
Age: 32
Hair: Sandy blond, shapeless
-
at a sort of in between stage of growth from the clipped style of her
Marshal days
Eyes:
Olive green, thick lashes
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 135 lbs.
Physical Description: Dicey has a well-toned,
athletic build and olive skin tone. She
carries herself loosely - frequently leaning on something while standing and walking with a relaxed, unconcerned gait. She
tends to slouch slightly when sitting and has no fear of taking up space; she's liable to throw an arm across the back of
a neighboring chair or stretch her legs out into a walkway if it means being comfortable.
Dicey prefers to dress in comfortable clothing, usually tank tops and cargo
pants. In bright daylight, she'll wear a wide-brimmed hat to shade her eyes as much as to protect her skin and a trench
coat if stealth is required. She is rarely seen without some sort of firearm (or several) strapped somewhere on her body.

History: Dicey was born into one of
the wealthier families of Persephone, but her tomboy nature made the ballgowns and social games of high Persephone society
a poor fit. Unwilling to force her to stay in a life she hated but unable to allow her to embarrass him on Persephone, her
father used his staunch support of the Alliance and good connections to find Dicey a place with the Marshals.
After
training, Dicey was posted to Ariel, but relegated mainly to desk work despite her obvious penchant for more active duty.
She suspects her father may have had something to do with that. However, the endless paperwork was just the beginning of her
restlessness. The rigid protocol and inflexibility of law on a core planet chafed against her basic nature. After a time,
she wanted out.
She returned to Persephone to visit her folks and look for work more suitable to her temperament. When
her father heard of the opportunity with the Lotus, Dicey caught a transport to Patella and signed on as a sharpshooter.
Life on the Lotus turned out to be quite a bit different than she'd imagined. For
one thing, few of the other crew members seemed to have any police experience and some had resumes laced with criminality.
For another, the ship was kept operational by the captain's crazy brother-in-law and his pet rat. Dicey's first encounter
with Del and Loki marked the beginning of her rat phobia.
Things took a turn for the even more bizarre when Captain Bishop unexpectedly named
Dicey as first officer. Moments later the Captain was murdered; and Dicey discovered she wasn't just the first officer, she
was also the new captain of the Lotus and employee (and in-part caretaker) of Del.
